James brings deep sector knowledge and strategic execution to every client engagement, guiding founders and investors through their transactions with focus and assurance.
At Silverpeak, James operates across the deeptech space, executing transactions in semiconductors (SiPearl, CST Global), quantum (Photonic Inc, ID Quantique), advanced manufacturing (Alloyed, CRP Technology), photonics (2D Photonics) and space (ClearSpace). He has executed M&A and fundraising transactions across both public and private markets, and has experience in recapitalisations and structured financing solutions.
To date, James has executed over $35 billion in M&A and financing transactions with leading investors, including Carlyle, KKR and CVC. Earlier in his career, he served as a Troop Commander in a combat reconnaissance regiment of the British Army, bringing leadership and operational rigour to high-pressure environments.
He holds an MSc in Finance and Accounting from Imperial College Business School, and a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews, where he specialised in the application of the principles of Quantum Mechanics to nanoparticle behaviours.
Outside work, James is an avid mountaineer and field sports enthusiast, and an ever-optimistic supporter of Scottish rugby.
