Based in London and San Francisco, Silverpeak Director, Justin Stebbins, covers the UK, Netherlands and Spain territories, and brings more than 15 years' experience in investing and advising start-ups in Silicon Valley and Europe.
Prior to his six years at Silverpeak, Justin worked at San Francisco-based investment funds - SVB Capital, Four Rivers Group and Saints Capital. He has also worked at Pagemill Partners, providing M&A, Private Placement and Valuation advisory.
He specialises in expansion stage to late stage growth companies in the enterprise software, digital media, travel and hospitality technology, SME software, enterprise financial technology and property technology.
Explaining why he is attracted to these sectors Justin explained: “It is the ability to increase productivity and automation; ability to equip small businesses with some of the productivity and growth tools to better compete against larger companies. I understand how they operate and can wear the 'hat' of multiple sides of the table, gained from investing in and working with companies.”
He chose to join Silverpeak for three reasons.“The professionalism, integrity, and expertise of the senior team”
One memorable deal he was involved in was with a familiar name. It was being part of the investment team to invest in Twitter Series A, which has proved seminal in how consumers, businesses and media communicate, influence, and market.
With Silverpeak, another deal sticks in his mind: “Ticketscript’s growth financing, which went on to provide not only a successful return to its investors, but also becoming Eventbrite Europe.”
Like many in the sector Justin is always receptive to advice, and recalls the best ones he has received. “Always think like an owner, never an employee. If you’re a junior and have a question – first ask yourself ‘if you were the owner, what approach would you recommend’?”
Outside of work, Justin still has an eye on the market, describing his interests as: “Public and private investments, travel, soccer, skiing, and start-ups.”
Justin started his career at Intel in the Mobile Products Group, working with teams in India, Israel and the U.S. He earned an MBA from both London Business School and Columbia Business School.
