Silverpeak chairman, Simon Walker, has intimate knowledge of the technology industry, as well as a wealth of experience in the intricacies of the law associated with the detail of deals within the ever-evolving sector.

With 20 years' at the international law firm, Taylor Wessing, as partner in their Corporate Technology Group, Simon set up its venture capital practice.

His experience in providing advice on corporate law, funding, and mergers and acquisitions to technology companies makes him the perfect fit as a non-executive for Silverpeak.

A regular invited speaker at conferences Simon served as Member of the Advisory Board – Europe of Cleantech Network LLC and as a member of the BVCA Venture Capital Committee.

With the tech field moving so quickly, it is the dynamism of the sector that keeps him interested.

“It’s very exciting to be advising companies on developing cutting-edge technologies. That, combined with having a great team, makes being the Chairman of Silverpeak such a privilege.” he explained.
And, he believes that he has witnessed a differentiator in Silverpeak.

“When companies come to Silverpeak they know the advice they receive is provided by specialists with deep transactional and sector knowledge.”

When not embroiled in the fast-changing world of technology banking, Simon relaxes by travelling, keeping fit and choral singing.

Despite retiring from practicing law, Simon knows the importance of lifelong learning, as he recalls the best business advice he has received: “When negotiating, be careful when saying ‘never’, as it may well come back to haunt you.”

That goes hand-in-hand with his two favourite guiding principles - “If you don’t ask, you don’t get”, and “Always do your best”, both of which tie in perfectly with Silverpeak’s ethos.
